Sabres Announce Football Program and Schedule
Prairie Christian Academy is pleased to announce that a Sabres football team plans to begin competing in the MountainView 9-man High School Football League this fall. The league currently consists of four other teams: Carstairs Tigers, Didsbury Dragons, JC Charyk (Hanna) Hawks and Sundre Bison. The season schedule (which can be downloaded here) runs from late August to late October. The league is registered under Football Alberta.
While conditioning camps usually take place in May-June of the previous school year, if there is enough interest, PCA hopes to field a team for the 2010 season. Although the coaching staff has not been finalized, a handful of key men who played high school football have been approached.

football_helmet.jpgStart-up costs for this program have already been covered by sponsorship that eagerly jumped on board as soon as the idea was brought up.  This means that even though there will be a yearly participation fee for students, neither the the school, the PCA Society, the athletics program, the students nor the parents will be responsible to cover the start-up costs.

As with all athletics programs at PCA, participants will need to be enrolled in PCA and maintain both the academic and conduct standards of the Christian school. PCA's desire is for the football program to draw students from smaller Alberta communities to Three Hills so that they can experience a top-quality football experience as well as the Christ-centered education offered through PCA.
If you or someone you know are interested in playing competitive football in a Christ-centered academic environment, contact Paul Armbruster, Prairie Christian Academy's Athletic Director at 403-443-4220 or by This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
